![]() ![]() (Spent all weekend bottoming the struts and jarring my teeth also the rear tires got into the fenders much more than I expected. The lower control arms were sitting in an upward angle on flat ground. I had about 2" Travel in the front before the Suspension bottomed out. It actually sat level, low front and rear on 32" Pro comps. So in a last ditch effort I cut up two 1" Coil spacers and ran them in with the GV springs.Ģwd V6 GV springs didn't give my 4-dr any rear lift. This happend with less then 48hrs until the Zuwharrie event. The Rear Jeep coils actually turned out to be too tall for the stock 3-link and I dislocated the upper link ball trying to pry the coils into place. Just a simple mod as most of the current set up looked capable. In the rear I was looking to add Jeep Cherokee or Wrangler Tj coils (they were free, I do not know the exact application) and longer shocks. Here are some pictures of th fender trimming I did on each side. With the front drop brackets in place I buttoned it up with 2wd V-6 GV 4dr coils and a 1.75" Coil spacer. The FRONT Rear Crossmember has taken the biggest hits as it is the Lowest part on the truck. Here is a BLURRY close up of the FRONT rear crosmember and the plate / bracing work that went into the design. I recall getting under their with Re-bar and come-a-long pulling everything square and measuring / double checking angles. That (3) hrs sleep each night gets old after 4 or 5 days.įrom here I just cut the holes back out and used the plates for reinforcement.Īligning the dropped rear crossmember with the new front drop brackets was a PITA. Next I was reinforcing the drooped (FRONT rear) crossmember when I welded plate completely over the back a-arm mounting places. But I forgot that part and made and welded (2) 8" Drop plates in place. First I made my drop bracket plate 8" so i could cut it in two. It was about this time the project and long hrs were getting to me. Next I began working on the FRONT rear crossmember. The front bracket bolts into place but is welded up for security. I bought (4) of the flanges and welded them to the 2.25" tubing making a 4" Strut spacer.įrom here I welded up my custom front IFS 4" Drop brackets. Looking at the strut plate and drawing it out on cardboard i recognized the pattern. Next was to fabricate strut drop brackets. Here is a picture of the new jeep coil spacer positioned on the upsidedown frame jig. The Jeep Spacer is on the right the piece I cut out is center, and the original kick spring isolator is on the right. The center of the jeep spacers had to be cut out one size larger to clear the Kick bump stop. ![]() I had heard that GV 4-dr coils would give about 1.5" Lift So I picked up a set and added a Jeep 1.75" Coil spacer. The combination of plates seen in the picture was used to make a jig so I could duplicate the brackets & spacing on each of the (4) control arm mounting points. I began by getting the correct dimensions to relocate the front mount for the lower control arm brackets. It was nice to be able to flip the frame around and not have to weld out side in the rain on your back in the dark (Which I did later have to do for 3 days during the final Install) I then took the frame section into the garage and used it as a Jig to manufacture all of my drop bracket designs and test fit. Fabbing up a weld in 4" IFS Drop seemed like the most efficient solution.Īt this point I went to the salvage Yard and chopped the frame from the front of another Side Kick. I originally wanted to go with a bolt on designed lift, but the FRONT rear crossmember would be in the way and the front differential would need to be dropped to maintain correct CV angles. Samurai one in hand.Īfter installation I could clear 34's as long as i didn't turn the steering wheel. Body lifts for Kicks were not that popular and I already had this hand made Sky MFG. What I finally decided on was a combination of all of the above.įor the first step I added a 2" Body lift. The Cal Mini 6"Combo (3" Suspension + 3" Body) for $995Īnd Jim Mazolla's CUSTOM 9" Suspension lift (A Super Custom 1 -off / Not in production built by an automotive engineer)ĪND The Chevrolet IFS Drop suspension lift. I checked out a few Track Kick, lifts like: I originally wanted a Trail worthy 4-dr for my wife and kid as the Sammy was not 2-year old friendly. This post is an unabridged version of my build up, combining information that has been lost along the way. ![]()
